Kraze Burger: The surch for a good burger
Continuing the search for a decent burger. I think it was the Marmot's Hole that started the search for a decent burger. That died, so I think I will continue. So I went with my esteemed colleauge to a place called Kraze Burger because we were tried of BK or Popeyes. The one we went to is located close to Yeouido station (여의도역) across the street and down a little way towards taebang station (대방역). The restaurant just looks like any Korean family restaurant, but maybe a little toned down. It had a fair number of customers. We were pleased with the menu, since it had chili cheese fries. I had the basic burger and added bacon to that, and then an order of chili cheese fries. My colleague, S, had a different burger and also chili cheese fries. Neither of us got a drink because we were quick enough to notice they were charging 2,500 a drink, and dropping cans of soda. We weren't about to pay that much for a can of soda, since the burgers were already on the pricey side. for the fries and burger, we ended up paying just over 10,000 KRW apiece, so about twice what you pay for the excuse of a burger at BK or Popeyes or McD. The real test here was the food. It was not bad. The chili cheese fries did not have traditional, chunky chili, it was more like chili puree. It had only small little chunks. Although the cheese was also not real grated cheese, the taste of the chili cheese fries were not bad. We were both pleasantly surprised. The fries were crunchy too, so they didn't just turn into mush with the chili. The burgers arrived after we finished the fries (which brings up service, it was not bad, people were friendly, and even the cook said hello as we went up to pay for it). Although they were not the grease-dripping, manly burgers at the USO, they were not bad. The bread was not traditional burger bread, and was actually pretty good. The contents seemed fairly fresh, and the amazing thing was I could taste the bacon in teh burger. I've only ever tasted bacon in a burger at the USO. Overall, we were pleased with the experience, but not enough so to visit often, because it is twice as expensive as the USO, and not the same level of burger. So we are thinking once a month, for the chili cheese fries, if nothing else..

hmm... Well, meaybe so. But as you know, there is a great black hole when it comes to good burgers here. So on a scale of 1-5, where Mcdonalds is 1 and the USO is a 5, Kraze Burger is about 2.5 or 3, so much better than McD or BK.
